Description of the position


As a member of the Global Trade Advisory team, the Export Control and Sanctions Manager provides expert guidance to clients on managing and mitigating risks related to international trade. This includes monitoring, analyzing, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with export control laws and sanction regulations. The role requires close collaboration with clients to strengthen their compliance programs, covering areas such as product classification, license determination strategies, screening against sanctioned party lists and embargoes, and conducting transactional due diligence

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain export control and sanctions compliance programmes.
  • Monitor and interpret relevant export control laws, regulations, and sanctions, including those from the EU, US, and other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide guidance and training on export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Perform transactional due diligence and screening assignments.
  • Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to build a network to enhance comprehensive compliance business models.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in export control and sanctions regulations and update company policies accordingly.
  • You will be involved in coaching and supervising junior team members, playing an important role in the further development of the practice.



Let's talk about you: 
  • Do you have a degree in International Trade, Law, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in export control, sanctions compliance, or a related area.
  • In-depth knowledge of regional and national export control laws and sanctions regulations (e.g., Belgian arms trade law,  EU dual use and military, EAR, ITAR, OFAC).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch and/or French
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
